4 Reasons why you should watch Insecure

You know that feeling after listening to a great song, watching a good movie, or in this case, a TV show, where you want to see it again to relive that feeling of first discovery? Well, that's exactly what I'm feeling right now after spending the last few weeks devouring the HBO show Insecure. There's only one word to describe this program: incredible. I loved it so much that I decided to share with you the reasons why you should also watch it asap.

Synopsis

"Insecure" is an American comedy-drama television series created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore. The series, which debuted in 2016 on HBO, follows the life of Issa Dee, a twenty-something African-American woman living in Los Angeles and trying to navigate the challenges of her career, friendships and romantic relationships.

The funniest show ever

The humor in the Insecure series is intelligent, and that's what makes it unique. Whether it's the situations the characters face or the interactions between them, it's impossible to watch an episode without laughing. This is a comedy-drama series that manages to create funny, realistic situations while tackling serious subjects.

Incredible soundtrack

The person responsible for the soundtrack is a genius. Each episode comes alive with sounds perfectly chosen to capture every moment and emotion of the characters. The first season's playlist is by far my favorite; in addition to discovering new artists, it introduced me to new music I'd never have found on my own.

It’s so relatable

I've never seen such a realistic show. This series really shows how difficult life can be for young adults in their twenties trying to make it in life. Whether it's in the professional sphere, in love, in friendship... this series really shows us the challenge of finding yourself as a young adult. I particularly appreciated the way in which, over the seasons, the evolution of each of the characters is shown in all aspects of their lives.

A good black TV show

It presents an authentic and nuanced picture of black women's lives, exploring their relationships, careers and personal struggles in a realistic way, offering a variety of perspectives through the series' different characters. Other very interesting subjects are tackled with great care, such as mental health, sexuality and toxic masculinity.
